The Source of Inspiration

Choosing a name wasn't easy. In the end, it came down to a toss-up between two options. Rocky River Radio won because it perfectly captures the unique roots of this music.

For decades, composer Jürgen Kalwa has lived above the rugged banks of the Housatonic River in Northwest Connecticut. A scenic, rocky waterway and a favorite training ground for kayakers and canoeists, it serves as the ultimate inspiring creative backdrop. It is here that he composed his extensive catalog of music for radio, online videos, and audiobooks before launching Rocky River Radio.

The name embraces a panoply of attractive vistas, kind people, and lots of local history—an area that helped shape the American Industrial Revolution. Today, new cafés and cultural meeting spots are contributing to a lively local scene. Along this river, a blend of global musical influences was collected and mixed, allowing Parlor Pop to broadcast its own unique frequency.

One Project, Two Energies

The Rocky River Radio collection is divided into two distinct vibes, both featuring an exceptional group of soloists:

  • The Chill Set: Radiates a smooth, relaxed vibe with a sophisticated touch of Cool Jazz.

  • The Party Set: A collection of upbeat compositions showcasing vibrant drum patterns and bold brass elements.

A Global Collaboration

This project was made possible by Musiversal, a terrific online platform that connects composers with world-class instrumentalists, singers, and audio engineers. Thanks to such outstanding talent, these musical ideas were brought to life exactly as imagined.
